Day 3 and Chicken Tacos

I was talking to Lisa about journaling, about how Will and Evie journal their workouts, their mood, how they feel, proud moments. I shared how my friend, Karen, writes a simple sentence each day, whatever she wants, on a notecard and then files it in a box. Some people like to write in a paper journal. Caroline does sometimes. Lisa said she does too. Whatever form it takes, I think journaling can help.

Journaling can help you focus on progress, letting you see that each day brings you closer to your goals. Journaling can keep you accountable. It can help you think through problems and see connections between problems and solutions that you might not otherwise have seen.

So I think it’s a good thing, and might help people who are at a low point make some positive changes. I think that it’s helped me in the past, and I’m feeling good about it helping me now too.

I like blogging because I prefer my phone and computer over a pen and paper. (My hand gets tired, lol.) I also like that I can easily add pictures then to my blog journal right from my phone. And now that I’ve figured out how to make my blog private so that I only share it with my mom and sister, I like it even better.

So here goes for today. I finished day 3 of Couch to 5K. Today I figure out how to use my speaker, so I could hear my music better. Music always helps to get me going. Today it was the same as the past 2 days, alternating walking and running for a half an hour. (Tomorrow the length of the time for each of the walking and running intervals gets a little longer.) I felt pretty good today.

So, my stats from today’s workout don’t look that impressive, lol. I swear I did more than 0 miles and burned more than 4 calories. The app just can’t track what I did because I was on the treadmill.

My dog seems to be resigning himself to the fact that I am using the treadmill. Today he patiently waited for me to be done, although he is still pretty worried about it and is relieved when I’m done, lol.

Last night we had chicken tacos...so good! They are a family favorite and it’s super easy. I put frozen chicken and a jar of salsa in my crockpot and cook on low all day, and then I shred the chicken before we are ready to eat. The kids put all of their favorite toppings on it, and I eat the chicken with a side of brown rice. We had a leftover veggie tray from the holidays, so I grabbed a few veggies from that, had my water and tea, and that was my meal! The whole family is happy and I ate clean again.
